These days, everyone seems to spend a lot of time telling the rest of the world all about themselves, their jobs, their families, their taste in music and wine, and so on. We have never done that. Working with people in the world of historic motor sport, we have found that recommendation by word of mouth is the best publicity anyone could want. However, as our market expands, perhaps it is appropriate to give you a little information about our experience. Harriet and John Wood have been working together for over 20 years since Harriet was obliged by injury to give up her successful career with horses and decided to switch four legs for four wheels instead. John, an ex-RAF navigator, has been involved in rallying for more years than he will own up to; he is very proud to have been a member of Ecurie Cod Fillet since the mid-60s, which in itself testifies to his rallying expertise! In 1994, Harriet formed the business under the name of Navigator, and for several years was kept very busy with conference and event organisation. It was decided to move the business focus totally into motor sport, and the name was changed to InCompass. The change meant that it was now easier to give the time for marshalling or officiating on motor events. Both John and Harriet are licensed MSA trainers, and have enjoyed delivering training for both novice and experienced marshals and officials. John is also an MSA Steward and Forestry Liaison Officer for North Wales. Since 1996 they have both been working with HERO (the Historic Endurance Rallying Organisation), firstly under the leadership of John Brown and subsequently with Peter Nedin, who took over the mantle in 2005. LE JOG has become one of the best-known road events in Europe; it has the reputation - quite justified - of being tough, challenging, unpredictable and exhausting. The routes for LE JOG and the majority of HERO events, are all devised by John Wood. He drives every one and plans all the competitive sections, whilst Harriet sits alongside to do all the roadbooking. Back home in the office, Harriet then creates the master timing spreadsheets, and produces the finished tulip roadbooks, or other navigational material for the competitors. With four or more events running each year, there is less time for involvement in stage rallying now; that doesn't mean that there are not still opportunities to get out in the cold, dark and wet countryside - it just means that you pick and choose a bit more! Harriet and John believe in traditional standards; straightforward service, good advice, value for money. That's the way it's going to stay! | ||||||||
